Over 25 championship courses within an hour's drive, 320 days of sunshine and green fees from €40 — the Costa Blanca is one of Europe's most playable, best-value golfing destinations. Here's where to play, where to stay, and how to plan a great golfing week.
Why golfers come here
The Costa Blanca has built a remarkable cluster of golf courses across the past forty years, spread across three geographic groups: the smart northern courses around Dénia and Altea (La Sella, Don Cayo, Altea Hills), the central cluster around Benidorm (Villaitana, Bonalba, Puig Campana, El Plantío), and the southern golf belt between Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadada — home to the densest concentration of courses in Spain.
Green fees are roughly half what you'd pay on the Costa del Sol for equivalent quality. Most courses offer significant discounts on twilight tee times, multi-round packages and as part of golf-hotel deals.

Green fees and how to book
| Tier | Typical green fee | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Premium | €110–€170 | Las Colinas, La Sella, Villaitana |
| Mid-range | €60–€95 | Bonalba, Villamartín, Campoamor, El Plantío |
| Value | €40–€60 | Alenda, Lo Romero, La Marquesa, Vistabella |
| Twilight (after 14:00) | −30 to −50% | Most courses outside high season |
Three- and five-round 'flex' packages from hotel groups (Meliá Villaitana, Marriott La Sella, AR hotels in Calpe) typically cut green fees by 30–40% and include practice balls, club hire discounts and transport between course and hotel.
Best season
Golf is genuinely year-round on the Costa Blanca. November to March is peak — mild, dry, course conditions excellent, and busy with northern European visitors. April to mid-June and September to October are arguably the best: warm but not hot, daylight long, courses quieter. July and August are very hot — book the earliest tee times available, drink relentlessly, take a buggy.
Where to base yourself
- ✦Orihuela Costa — densest course cluster (Las Colinas, Villamartín, Campoamor, Las Ramblas, Lo Romero); apartment rentals from €60/night
- ✦Dénia — for La Sella; the Marriott Resort is the obvious base
- ✦Altea / Benidorm — central, Villaitana resort hotel on-site at the course
- ✦Mutxamel / Alicante — Bonalba and El Plantío within 15 minutes of the airport

- ✦Club hire €30–€50 per round — book with the green fee
