What actually happens at the notary signing — the legal moment when the property becomes yours.
Before the appointment
Your lawyer prepares the deed draft and circulates it 2–3 days ahead. Review with them to make sure all parties, prices and charges are correct.
At the appointment
The notary reads the key clauses, all parties sign, you pay the balance (usually by bank transfer + certified cheque), and you receive the keys.
After signing
The deed is registered at the Land Registry (2–4 weeks). Your lawyer notifies the town hall, utilities and community for name changes.
